Residents Share their story! Hi my name is Duncan; I am a resident and property owner in Fineview. I also wanted to let you know why I chose Fineview. When I stumbled upon Fineview on one of my urban hikes, I knew I had found someplace special. The topography fascinated me. I also found the architectural stock to be top notch with many hidden gems scattered throughout the neighborhood. I was also shocked to find how much greenery there was to be had in an urban neighborhood. After my first experience in Fineview, I made many trips back; exploring every nook and cranny of the neighborhood, meeting anyone who happened to be on the street, and getting a feel for what it would be like to live in the neighborhood. With these experiences, combined with the fact that the housing was incredibly affordable, I decided that Fineview was where I wanted to live. Since I moved here I have found so many advantages to living here in Fineview. My cost of living is kept low. I live in diverse neighborhood filled with all kinds of interesting, smart, and caring people. I have had the opportunity to be involved in the community council and feel privileged to be a part of the process of bringing a community back to its full potential. I have enjoyed the incredibly short commute to work. And, of course, I love the views! Hi my name is Don Marshal and I've lived in Pittsburgh since 1974. You name it: Ross, South Side, Gibsonia, Troy Hill, West View, Spring Hill. However, when I found our home in Fineview, I knew I was done moving. My wife, Diane, and I last lived on Oakdale St. on the Ross/City border close to Riverview Park. It was a very nice place lots of wild-life but too many other issues such as drugs and bad attitudes. I never felt secure there. Then, one day in August 06, I discovered Peekskill St and the place where I now call home. The house was rough at best. I got what I think was a diamond in the rough. I completely rehabbed the house from basement to attic and spent approximately $175,000 in renovation plus the $27,500 purchase price. My property borders a "Green Way" parcel between us and Interstate 279 and we are tucked away in the woods. We constantly see deer, fox, turkey, ground hogs, hawks and wild poodles. I love where I live. I also run my own contracting business in Fineview. I probably have invested about $500,000 in a couple of houses I own. It's easy to do in "Fineview". There is a lot of history in Fineview and a bright future. If you have any questions, call me, Don Marshall at 412-805-3984 |
